Inauguration of DNA Lab & Release of 'Investigators Guidebook


DNA lab was inaugurated on 8th April, 2016 by Hon’ble Home Minister. The lab now undertakes DNA examinations on crime cases becoming the 18th state in the country to have DNA technology for detecting criminals and serve justice. The Home Minister also released a book, ‘Investigators Guide’ prepared by FSL; the book is an aid and ready reference for investigating officers on handling of different kinds of exhibits.


In this function, the DGP of Mizoram, Mr. Thianghlima Pachuau IPS launched the FSL website which have been upgraded for investigating officer to track the status of their cases examined in the laboratory.


Installation of Equipments


The following equipments were recently installed in the laboratory:

Automated Fingerprint Identification System (Secure Mantra AFIS v5.4)

Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS, Thermo Scientific Trace 1300-ISQ LT)

Forensic Image Analyser  (Forensic - Pathways)

Regula 4307  (Regula)
