The Forensic Science Laboratory, Mizoram was established on 31st July, 2000. It was temporarily accommodated in the 3rd Battalion MAP Complex, Mualpui and was shifted to the newly constructed building at New Secretariat Complex on November, 2012. The new state of the art building of Mizoram FSL, designed to accommodate all the latest Forensic technologies is constructed with a view to comply with the requirement of ISO/IEC - 17025 (2005) and NABL-113 at New Secretariat Complex, Khatla. The Laboratory undertakes examination of wide range of evidences and also provides scientific aids to the Investigating Officers as and when required. The first crime case examined at FSL was Ganja case under ND&PS referred by Excise & Narcotics Department and Superintendent of Police, Champhai during September 2000.


          Different divisions/technical units functioning under Mizoram Forensic Science Laboratory at present are as follows:-



  • Laboratory Timing:  9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (summer), 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM (winter) Monday to Friday
  • Crime Scene Timing:  24 x 7 (Round the clock)
