Since its inception, Mizoram FSL has examined Exhibits from various criminal cases filed under different Police Stations within the state. Apart from crime cases received from the Police, cases filed under ND&PS Act and state Liquor prohibition Act taken up by Department of Excise & Narcotics were received for examination. Corruption cases filed under Anti Corruption Bureau, Vigilance Department and disputed cases under other government offices were also taken up; cases from DP&AR, Mizoram Women Commission, Child Welfare Committee, Forest Department, Government Medical institutions, Hospitals, Veterinary institutions, MBSE and Banks had been examined in the past. Apart from criminal cases, cases filed under Civil Suits were also received from High Court and District Courts. Investigation agencies under Central government like Customs, Revenue Intelligence, National Investigation Agency, Narcotic Control Bureau, Assam Rifles also sent their cases for examination in the laboratory.

Examination of a case may range from examination of one exhibit to several exhibits, the actual laboratory analysis on the case may be weighted by the number of exhibits needed to be examined. Although the case examination can be burdened depending on the number of exhibits, the laboratory set the duration of examination of cases as 30 days from the receipt of the case in the laboratory, examination was performed according to the date of receipt without pending. The exhibits received were meticulously examined by Scientific Experts working in the lab and generated an Expert Report to the concerned forwarding authority for onward submission to the Court.

The following table highlighted the performance of FSL Mizoram during calendar year 2000 to 2025.
